Grants for professional placements abroad - Music for the moving image

Purpose

To facilitate participation for composers of music for the moving image in festivals and instructional events outside France, in which films are to feature on which they have collaborated.

  • Professional meetings and additional services provided by/for the composer will be included, such as:
  • Masterclasses
  • Workshops
  • Conferences
  • Professional meetings such as interviews with journalists and meetings with producerdirectors, music supervisors and foreign professionals.

Eligibility criteria

  • Particular consideration will be given to the variety of activities organised for the composer: masterclasses, workshops, appointments with professionals and local media, audiovisual recordings and interviews with the composer, etc.
  • Project organisers may submit a maximum of two (2) applications per year

Amount of funding

The grant awarded by Sacem will be up to 30% of the accommodation and transport costs, calculated on the cost of the project and any ancillary activities, to a maximum of €12,000.

Requirements for the application

- A document giving details of:

  • the composer participating in the film (listing all collaborations and shows outside France)
  • the project leader (if different from the composer)
  • a short description of the film and an artistic biography: director, producer, synopsis + musical role, any awards.
  • the festival or event that selected the film
  • the project and ancillary activities (a schedule of any supplementary activities: masterclasses, workshops, conferences, professional meetings and meetings with journalists, foreign professionals, recording of audiovisual modules for broadcast (TV or Internet), meetings with the public etc.)

- Budget and financing plan (form to be completed)
- Any other document you may wish to submit in support of your application

Evaluation of applications

  • The Cultural Support Directorate will examine the application and make a decision on behalf of the Board of Directors. The project organisers will be notified in writing of the decision, whether positive or negative, which is final.
  • No application having once been considered can be re-submitted.
  • Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Payment of support

  • The grant will be paid after an agreement has been signed with the beneficiary, setting out the conditions for support by Sacem.
  • The beneficiary must submit a written report on how the grant will be used within the time limit set out in the agreement, by saving an artistic review (with a list of any professional meetings) and a financial statement (specifying the amount of fees to be paid to the local songwriters' society) to the computerised file. Failure to provide these documents will result in the consideration of any new application from the project organiser being suspended.

  • The SACEM logo and the motto 'la culture avec la copie privée' (culture with private copying) must be displayed on all visual and written communications, and on all documents in general that relate to the SACEM-aided project.
